Tires

Tires tires tires tires tires TIRES! Here is the story, the local service center was having a hard time getting the tires I wanted stating they were out of stock every where. I could find them to be shipped online, but I had no desire to pay shipping on top of mounting. When I called the service center earlier today I was not convinced they had any idea where they were located so I asked them to cancel the order. This was also with amazing timing since another local LJ owner posted his stock ravine rims and BFGoodrich 32x11.50R15 tires on Craigslist asking $500 for all five. I had bought them faster than any else could, literally today! The cost for the brand new tires would have been over $1,000 so this is an amazing savings for me. The tires were not exactly what I was aiming for though close enough. The rims are in great shape besides some minor rubbing on the edges. They only need some cleaning and a new paint scheme.

After removing the layer of dirt and grease the inside of the rims are covered in baked on brake dust.

Sixty grit flap sanding wheels are great for removing the brake dust and preparing the surface for painting.

Primer finish, looking good so far.

Sprayed black with Krylong high temperature barbecue grill paint in a semi-gloss. The outside of the rims will be done with normal gloss paint.

The rims with final paint! I plan to take the polisher to them to shine them up some. The center caps are still being painted. I have extras so I am experimenting with either a silver Jeep logo on a black cap or the opposite.
